The elderly and those unable to work also need our help because of the lack of social programs in Ethiopia.    

 

Sometimes their families or neighbors are able to help by giving them an evening meal, the only meal they  have  during the day.  The older generation are usually supported by their children, but if there are no children, the old people are left destitute. It is common to find elderly people and the sick begging in the streets in Gondar.
